Bio
Siobhán Scarlett O’Reilly is a researcher, filmmaker, and writer based in Brighton. She is completing a PhD in Media and Psychology at the University of Brighton, where her work investigates how online liminal-space imagery shapes emotional experience through photo-elicitation and thematic analysis. Her practice sits at the intersection of creative nonfiction, essay film, and experimental media, with a focus on embodiment, memory, and digital atmospheres.
She holds degrees in Philosophy, Screenwriting and Directing, and Global Film & Television, and her research has been supported by multiple academic awards, including funding from The Folklore Society, BAFTSS, and the Lynne Grundy Trust. She has presented her work at international conferences in folklore, screen studies, queer media, digital culture, horror, and liminality.
Her writing has been recognised by CRAFT Literary, Frontier Poetry, Palette Poetry, and Sundress Publications. Her moving-image work has been selected for festivals including Together! Disability Film Festival and London Lift-Off.
